The NAF Score Card Guide Going back to our backlog (pun intended) of figures to review, today we examine Bleach Ichigo Kurosaki Action Figure from Toynami. Standing 7 inches tall on stand, Ichigo is shown offering his traditional scowl (pic 2). But we think the mascara around the eyes is laid on a bit too much. With a sword that is properly long (pic 3, 4), Ichigo's pose gives an aura of stength and confidence. Since the sculptor Shin Tanabe successfully captures Ichigo's personality in this release (pic 1), we give a relatively high rating of "B" for Representation. Readers of our reviews last year of Chobit Chi Action Figures from Toyanami may remember a frequent complaint we had regarding the poor quality of the figures. And unfortunately, this release is no different. The biggest flaw is the ghastly, highly noticeably gap running along the neck and shoulders (pic 5). Apparently, the torso is composed of two pieces snapped together. Our sample also has the usual issues with mold lines (pic 6)and over bleeds of paint. The product is marketed as an action figure with multiple points of articulation. It has articulation in the neck, forearms, and shoulders. Each shoulder actually has two points of articulation, to allow greater flexibility for the consumer to make poses with Ichigo holding his sword (pic 1, 3, 4). The stand itself is very nifty, with the Bleach symbol added to the stand (pic 7). The action figure can stand on its own, but looks much better using the stand. The Bleach Ichigo Kurosaki Action Figure from Toynami offers a nice sculpt of the main character in the Bleach anime series. Unfortunately, the poor craftsmanship prevents us from recommending collectors to buy this product. |
